NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED
Written by Keith Naylor
Tuesday, 28 April 2009

Today the new Worksop and District Photographic Society website was launched, refreshing the look with a contemporary new design.

All the old favourite sections are still available (except the gallery and forum) ready for the new season. We hope more members will contribute to the content to make this a worthwhile site to visit.

There is a refreshed 'Programme' section which will allow members and the public to know what we are doing through the winter season.  I'm still working on the gallery module, which is proving difficult to say the least.

RECENT SUCCESSES
Written by Chris Jesinger
Tuesday, 24 March 2009

On Friday 20th March Worksop competed against 21 other Societies from a fairly wide geographical area in the Annual Digital Image Knock-Out Competition organised by Sheffield Photographic Society. We finished in a very creditable 2nd place, the winning club being Stocksbridge. Such clubs as Sheffield are far larger than us so it once again goes to show the talent in Worksop Society. It is also worth noting that we beat all the other clubs from N&EMPF who entered. Well done to those photographers taking part, Dennis Farrell, Geralld Hall, Keith Naylor, John Sims and Rob Turner. The (astute) judge was Ray Brammall ARPS DPAGB.

Then, to add something more, on Sunday 22nd March we took part in the N&EMPF Club Championship which has now converted to digital. We WON, and by a considerable margin, which means that once again Worksop & District will represent N&EMPF at the PAGB competition in Warwick this Summer. Since 2003 Worksop has won this competition 6 out of 7 times - possibly a record. In all 15 clubs took part and Worksop scored an impressive 231 marks from 20 slides in the final round. Keith Naylor won the "best overall entry" with his image "Spurn Defences 2" which, you will remember, also won "best image" in the recent N&EMPF Exhibition. And, not only that, Joh Birch's entry "Snake Eagle Cloaks Prey" scored a perfect 15 marks in both rounds of the competition.

Well done Worksop and all the contributors.
